Marcel Korn, D.M.D.
Dr. Marcel Korn received his D.M.D., cum-laude from Tufts University
in 1966.
He studied orthodontics at Tufts under the directorship of Dr. Everett
Shapiro and
received his postgraduate certificate in orthodontics in 1970. He
is a diplomate of the
American Board of Orthodontics, member of the College of Diplomates
of the American
Board, a member of the Angle Society of Orthodontists and a fellow
in the International
College of Dentists. Dr. Korn is an associate clinical professor
in the department of
postgraduate orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine
and is the
orthodontic consultant both to the Gelb Pain Center at Tufts and
to the American
Orthodontics Corporation.
Dr. Korn's main interest is clinical research and treatment related
to a philosophy
he calls ''Postural Orthodontics''. Postural Orthodontics is concerned
with the early
treatment of malocclusion in children and the management of adult
problems via a fixed-
functional and postural approach. A simplified, cost effective,
and less invasive
alternative for all orthodontic problem solving is the main goal
of ''Postural
Orthodontics''. Research projects are now underway at Tufts University
on the early
treatment postural approach and on non-surgical management of adult
surgical cases.
Dr. Korn has lectured extensively throughout the United States,
Europe and the
Americas on the subject of Postural Orthodontics. He has developed
a number of
orthodontic appliances and holds a number of patents on items related
to his
mechanotherapy.
He has written a syllabus, published numerous articles on early
treatment with
''Lip Bumpers'' and the ''Mandibular Advancer'' and he has written
a chapter titled
''Postural Orthodontics'' for a textbook named ''Orthodontics for
the TMD & TMJ Patient'',
published by Duane Grummons.
He and his wife Gail have two daughters and reside in Boston. Dr.
Korn
maintains private practices in Boston and Fitchburg, Massachusetts
and is on the
faculty at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in both the
Department of
Postgraduate Orthodontics and the Gelb Cranio-Mandibular Pain Center.
